Job Vacancy: Youth Minister

Youth Minister & Primary Schools Worker

St. Matt’s Church, High Brooms, Tunbridge Wells
and High Hopes, Tonbridge

Full time

Salary: £20,000 to £25,000 dependent on qualifications and experience

Do you want to inspire young people and children to reach their full potential in Jesus Christ and make a difference in the world?

St. Matt’s is a lively, growing Anglican church situated in the High Brooms area of Tunbridge Wells. We are a community of people who want to follow Jesus. Our mission statement is “igniting passion for Jesus” and that is exactly what we want to do. We want to grow in our love for Jesus and we want to help other people discover him for themselves.

High Hopes works alongside schools and churches in Tonbridge, telling the stories of Jesus’ adventures and sharing His teachings with all children, young and old. We aim to positively influence children as we lead acts of worship, run lunch-time and after school clubs, and run other educational activities.

We are looking for the right person to lead the youth ministry at St. Matt’s Church with 11-18 year olds for 3 days a week, and to be involved with primary schools’ ministry with High Hopes for 2 days a week. In both roles, you will be part of established and committed teams.

At St. Matt’s Church, you will play a key part in rebuilding and shaping our youth ministry as we emerge from the pandemic. Our heart is to see our young people grow as disciples of Jesus, share their faith with their peers and fulfil their God given potential. You will also develop a team of committed volunteers who can work with you to help young people discover Jesus for themselves.
At High Hopes, you will be involved in planning and delivering schools ministry in the Tonbridge area.

The successful applicant will:

  • Love Jesus
  • Be passionate about engaging with young people, children, and their families
  • Be highly relational, both with young people and children and the wider church family
  • Be able to grow, nurture and equip a team of volunteers
  • Love to disciple young people and share their faith
  • Be confident working with a range of age groups and in a variety of environments
  • Be a good communicator
  • Have good organisational skills

There is a genuine occupational requirement that the post holder is a practicing Christian in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

Please have a look at the two job descriptions, the church profile for St. Matt’s Church, and the High Hopes website before applying for this post.
