Rob outside St. Matt’s
The Bishop of Rochester is delighted to announce that The Revd Rob Byrne is to be appointed as the new Vicar of St Matthew’s, High Brooms.
Rob served his curacy at Christ Church Tunbridge Wells and trained for ordination at Trinity College, Bristol. Rob originally trained to be a journalist before discerning his call to ordination. He then worked as a ministry intern and operations manager at his local church for 18 months. He holds a first-class BA (Hons) in Theology, Ministry & Mission from Durham University, as well as a BSc (Hons) in Social Sciences and an MA with Distinction from the University of Kent.
Rob writes, “I’m absolutely thrilled to have been appointed as the next Vicar of St Matt’s. My family and I are really excited about laying down our roots in High Brooms and I am looking forward to working with the team at St Matt’s over the coming years to continue building on the great work that is happening there. Please pray for my wife Alice and our children Phoebe and Jacob as we get ready to move house and say goodbye to our friends and colleagues at CCTW.”
Rob’s last Sunday at Christ Church Tunbridge Wells will be Sunday 31st May. The Byrne family hope to move into The Parsonage in High Brooms in the first week of June.
Archdeacon Nick Cornell is delighted that Rob has accepted the Bishop’s invitation to serve as Vicar of St Matthew’s High Brooms, and knows he will be a great blessing to the parish and wider community. “It has been a pleasure to get to know Rob who has already been serving in the Deanery, and we are so pleased that his first incumbency will continue locally. We look forward to welcoming Rob, Alice, Phoebe and Jacob as they settle into High Brooms and begin this new chapter among us. Please do hold them in your prayers in the weeks ahead”.
It is planned that Rob will be Licensed in mid June – more details to follow.
