In Depth: enCounter Culture Mentoring Scheme
08 Feb 2010
Within enCounter Culture we have recognised the importance of relationship building with the young people. Good youth work is built around genuine relationships and so we are looking to set up a mentoring scheme; and we need mentors.
The aim of the scheme is to encourage and develop deeper relationships with the young people we work with. We have sen amazing things happen in young people's lives merely through relationship and so we want to develop this area of enCounter Culture further.
Therefore we are asking if anyone feels able to give some time to mentor a young person. We are planning that the commitment would be relatively minimal and are designing this to reflect the busy lives we lead. It would involve an initial team meeting followed by occasional (no more than monthly) meetings with your young person (milkshakes at Bean are ideal), the odd text update and prayer support. WE want young people to know that there is someone they can turn to and someone supporting them.
Please speak to us if you are at all interested and please do not be put off if you feel that you would not meet the requirements. This may be a different angle to youth work that's perfect for you. The young people just need someone to look out for them and that can be you!
